Editorial Career
Peer Review Management and Editorial Support
I joined Technica Editorial Services in Carrboro, NC as a Senior Editor in July 2022. As of 2024 I am currently an Assistant Managing Editor in the Peer Review Management branch. I manage peer review dashboards and email inboxes for editors-in-chief and associate editors of several scientific journals managed by ACS and BMJ.
I also lead a team of editorial staff to manage peer review and editorial support for all 8 journals in the AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) family of journals.
Copyediting and publishing
I enjoy facilitating the presentation of new ideas to the public, and doing justice to the author’s manuscript and the hard work that it took to bring that manuscript to publication. From 2019 to 2023 I worked as the co-managing editor of Perspectives on Science and perform all copyediting and coding for typesetting that the journal required. On average, I was responsible for preparing 500 pages of copy for publication on a quarterly basis.
I perform copyediting for clients of Technica Editorial as a freelancer as well and have provided copyediting for fiction and non-fiction book, journal articles, and white papers.
Adminstration and media management
Departmental service was a large part of my graduate career. I worked for our graduate organization, PGSO, in the roles of treasurer, vice president, and president. My responsibilities included acting as financial officer, writing and managing annual budgets, submitting timely purchase requests, organizing large events and academic conferences, and delegating work among my other cabinet members.
In April 2020 I helped design a website to host an academic conference that was quickly moving virtual in the wake of the pandemic. I ran the social media account for the philosophy department of the University of South Florida for two years.
In the Summer of 2022, I designed and implemented an extensive Articulate 360 course for Duke Memorial UMC’s Safe Sanctuaries Training.
Starting in 2023, I began managing social media accounts and doing content creation for Willow Marsh Farm Store in Ballston Spa, NY.
